1958 – 1963                  Studied English and American Language and Literature, History, Philosophy, Education at Kiel University, Germany; English Language and Literature, European History, English Philosophy at Hull University, GB.

 

B.A. Special Honours Degree in English Language and Literature, Hull University.

 

1966                           „Staatsexamen“ in English Language and Literature, American Literature, History at Kiel University, Germany.

 

1966 – 1970             Research assistant to Prof. Dr. K. D. Erdmann, Historian at Kiel University, in his capacity as chairman of „Deutscher Bildungsrat“ (= Federal Advisory Committee on the Reorganization of Secondary Education in Germany).

 

1971                           Ph. D. in History, Kiel University. Doctoral dissertation: Britain’s Military and Political Position in the Commonwealth and in the Western Aliance Since 1945.

 

Since Oct. 1974        Professor of English (English Literature, British Cultural Studies) at Osnabrück University, Germany.

 

1981, 1982, 1986, 1990,

1993, 1994, 1997     Visiting Professor at: Université Catholique, Angers; Université d’Angers (France); Hull University (GB); Janus Pannonius University, Pecs (Hungary); State University of New York, Owego (USA), Southwestern University, Texas; University of Izmir (Turkey).

                                   

1987                           Visiting Fulbright Professor at University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana, both in Evansville, Ind., USA.

 

Since 1978                Co-founder (later Chairman of Board) of Office of International Education, Osnabrück University.

                                    Initiator of academic partnership with universities in GB, USA, Turkey.

                                    Repeatedly Chairman of Department of English/American Literatures and Cultural Studies.

                                    Member: Deutscher Anglistentag.
